“Preserving a Future for the Past”

What is Hochheim Historical Foundation?

The “Stagecoach Inn” was purchased in 2000 by Hochheim Prairie Farm Mutual Insurance Association because of its link to the company's history. Built by Valentin Hoch, the home was completed in 1856-1857 and is located near Hochheim, Texas. The inn later became a stagecoach stop on the Indianola-Austin Trail. Recognizing the greater significance of the inn to the growth and development of the surrounding area, Hochheim Prairie Farm Mutual Insurance Association established the Hochheim Historical Foundation, a non-profit organization, and the “Stagecoach Inn” was donated into the Foundation's care.

A monetary gift from Hochheim Prairie Farm Mutual Insurance Association, allowed the Foundation to become operational and make basic repairs to the inn. The Hochheim Historical Foundation’s goal and vision is to restore the home to its original condition, preserving the cultural and architectural history of one of the few remaining stagecoach stops on the Indianola-Austin Trail. Being a non-profit organization, the Foundation must seek additional funds to continue the restoration through donations and grants. Once completed, students and visitors will be able to tour the “Stagecoach Inn” and experience a living piece of local history. The inn will stimulate tourism and promote interest in the restoration and preservation of other historical sites in the area. With the support of the community and fellow preservationists, the Foundation will be able to ensure that the “Stagecoach Inn” is preserved for future generations.
